Military Family Resilience Scholarship

Why We Created This Scholarship

Mission Focus Legal Group offers a $2,500 scholarship to students who have grown up in military families. The scholarship recognizes the unique opportunities, challenges, and hardships that come with having a parent or loved one serve in the military, as well as the resilience, strength, and perseverance students develop through those experiences.

Who Is Eligible to Apply

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:


  • Currently enrolled in or accepted to an accredited U.S. college, university, trade school, or graduate program
  • Graduating high school student, undergraduate student, graduate student, or trade school student
  • U.S. resident
  • At least 18 years old at the time of enrollment
  • In good academic standing


We welcome applications from students pursuing any field of study.

Who Is Ineligible to Apply

  • Employees of Mission Focus Legal Group or their immediate family members
  • Previous scholarship recipients
  • Applicants unwilling or unable to participate in an interview if selected
  • Applicants submitting the same video for multiple scholarships or multiple application cycles

What the Application Requires

The application is straightforward. Each applicant submits:


  • A completed scholarship application form, including required personal and academic information
  • An original video no longer than 3 minutes, uploaded to YouTube as an unlisted video
  • The YouTube link submitted with the application


Video prompt:
Discuss how growing up in a military family has shaped your life. Share the opportunities you have experienced, the hardships you have overcome, and how those experiences have helped build your resilience, strength, and perseverance. What lessons have you learned from your or a loved one's military service that have influenced who you are today?


AI policy:
Applicants may not use AI to generate their scripts, create fake actors, modify their voices, or produce the video entirely with AI tools. Improper use of AI may result in disqualification.

How Recipients Are Selected

Applications are reviewed by firm leadership. We evaluate each video on authenticity, clarity, and genuine engagement with the prompt. We are looking for students who have something real to say about their experience growing up in a military family.



The selection committee may take up to three months after the application deadline to select a winner. The winner will be contacted directly by Mission Focus Legal Group. Scholarship funds are sent directly to the recipient's academic institution. The firm does not contact applicants who are not selected.

  • Is this scholarship available to students outside Connecticut?

    Yes. The MFLG Military Family Resilience Scholarship is open to U.S. residents nationwide. Applicants are not required to be Connecticut residents.

  • What is the scholarship award amount?

    The scholarship award is $2,500, paid directly to the recipient's academic institution.

  • Can I apply if I am pursuing a field other than law?

    Yes. There is no requirement that applicants intend to study law or enter a legal career. The scholarship is open to students in any field of study.

  • How do I know my application was received?

    You will receive a confirmation email at the address you provide in the application form. If you do not receive a confirmation within 24 hours of submitting, contact our office directly at (860) 333-6455.

  • When does the application window open each year?

    The application cycle dates vary by year and are published on this page when confirmed. Check back here or contact our office to be notified when the next cycle opens.

  • Can I use AI to help create my video?

    AI tools may not be used to generate your script, create fake actors, modify your voice, or produce the video entirely with AI. Submissions found to have improperly used AI may be disqualified.

  • Will I be contacted if I am not selected?

    No. The firm contacts the selected recipient directly. Applicants who are not selected will not receive individual notifications.
